Following is an explanation of our application and hiring process.

| Certified Application and Hiring Process:
Certified Application Process:
The link to the District application form that is required for applying for vacancies can be found at the end of this article or on this website in the Download section. We also require a current resume and an unofficial copy of transcripts. Applications for certified positions are kept on file for one year. You may submit the application to Mrs. Gail Curtis, Safford Unified School District, 734 11th Street, Safford, AZ 85546 or e-mail to gcurtis@saffordusd.k12.az.us.
Certified Hiring Process:
Applications are kept in my office. Building principals select a screening committee. The committee comes to my office to screen the applications. Arrangements are then made for interviews at the individual schools and are conducted by the committee. The committee makes the recommendation for hire to our Superintendent, Dr. Tregaskes. This recommendation is then submitted to our Governing Board for approval.
Final candidates for teaching positions may be asked to submit either a 15 minute videotape of a teaching demonstration or present a 15 minute teaching demonstration as part of the on-site interview. Should you become a finalist for a teaching position, you will be contacted by a member of the committee to make final arrangements for the teaching presentation.
Our salary schedule reflects only the base amount. It does not reflect additional Proposition 301 funding through the State of Arizona, 101 state monies, or Career Ladder addenda. These monies will be given in addition to the salaries on the certified salary schedule. We do not know the exact amount of Proposition 301 funding at this time. State monies at this time are $665. For more information on the opportunity to participate in the and earn another addenda to be added to the basic salary amount, please visit the Career Ladder website. This will be in addition to the salaries on the attached schedule. Certified salary schedules are available upon request. Successful candidates for classified positions must be fingerprinted and are responsible for the cost of the background check.
